This Acceptable Use Policy governs how clients and end users may use the websites, hosting, and services provided by Redefine Web LLC. By using any Redefine Web service you agree to the terms below. Violations may result in warnings, suspension, or termination, and may be reported to law enforcement where required.
Who we are
Redefine Web LLC operates client websites and the hosting infrastructure that supports them. Our hosting rides on top of infrastructure provided by KnownHost LLC as our underlying data-center and network provider. Because of that upstream relationship, our clients are also bound by the KnownHost Acceptable Use Policy in addition to this document.
Offensive content
Redefine Web hosting may not be used to publish, store, transmit, or link to content that is:
- Pornographic, sexually explicit, or that depicts minors in any sexual context.
- Incitement to violence, terrorism, or hate against any protected group.
- Fraudulent, deceptive, or designed to mislead visitors (including phishing pages, fake storefronts, and scam funnels).
- Infringing on the intellectual property of others, including unlicensed music, film, software, images, or written work.
- Related to the sale or distribution of illegal substances, weapons, or controlled goods without proper authorization.
- Otherwise unlawful under United States federal, state, or local law, or the law of the client’s jurisdiction.
Harassment and professional conduct
Redefine Web maintains a zero-tolerance stance on harassment, abuse, or threats directed at Redefine Web staff, KnownHost staff, other clients, or the general public. Behavior that is abusive, discriminatory, or threatening in support tickets, email, chat, or phone calls may result in suspension of service without notice. We reserve the right to refuse continued service to any client whose conduct is inconsistent with a professional working relationship.
Backup limitations
Redefine Web makes reasonable efforts to run automated backups of client websites, but backups are provided as a courtesy and not as a guaranteed data-protection service. Certain file types, temporary caches, database exports over a size threshold, mailboxes above account quota, and other operationally noisy items may be excluded from automated backups. Clients are responsible for maintaining their own off-site backups of any data they consider critical.
Resource usage
Shared hosting plans are for normal website workloads. Clients may not consume server resources in a way that degrades service for others. Specifically:
- Process, CPU, and memory limits apply per hosting tier and are enforced automatically.
- MySQL query limits, connection limits, and long-running-query timeouts apply per tier.
- Cron jobs must not run more frequently than every 15 minutes on shared plans.
- Continuous high-load workloads (video encoding, machine learning, cryptocurrency mining, indexing crawlers) must run on a dedicated or VPS plan sized for the workload.
Accounts that consistently exceed the resource envelope of their plan will be asked to upgrade or migrate.
Network abuse
The following activities are prohibited on Redefine Web infrastructure:
- Denial-of-service or distributed-denial-of-service attacks, whether targeting Redefine Web systems or third parties.
- Phishing sites, credential-harvesting forms, or brand-impersonation pages.
- Port scanning, vulnerability scanning, or penetration testing of any system without written authorization from that system’s owner.
- Unauthorized access attempts against any system, including brute-force login attempts against remote services.
- Unauthorized monitoring or interception of network traffic, including packet capture of traffic that does not belong to the client.
- Distribution of malware, ransomware, worms, trojans, or any code designed to damage a system.
Email sending
Clients who send email through Redefine Web hosting must follow all applicable anti-spam laws, including the CAN-SPAM Act, CASL, and GDPR where relevant. In particular:
- All recipients must have given clear, verifiable opt-in consent to receive email from the client.
- Purchased, scraped, or rented mailing lists are prohibited.
- Every commercial message must include a valid physical postal address and a working one-click unsubscribe link.
- Sender identity (From, Reply-To, and header fields) must be accurate and must not be forged.
- Bulk mail senders must publish a privacy policy and must implement SPF, DKIM, and DMARC alignment.
- Complaint rates and bounce rates must stay within industry norms. Sustained complaint rates above 0.3% may result in outbound-mail suspension.
Copyright and DMCA
Redefine Web respects the intellectual property of others and expects clients to do the same. Notices of claimed copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act should be sent to our designated agent at abuse@redefineweb.com and must include:
- A physical or electronic signature of the owner or authorized agent.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
- The URL of the material claimed to be infringing.
- Contact information for the complaining party (address, phone, email).
- A good-faith statement that the use is not authorized by the owner, agent, or law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that the complaining party is authorized to act.
Counter-notices may also be sent to abuse@redefineweb.com.
Reporting violations
To report abuse, spam, phishing, malware, or any other violation of this policy hosted on Redefine Web infrastructure, email abuse@redefineweb.com. Include the offending URL, a short description of the issue, and any supporting evidence. We investigate every report and respond within 2 business days.
Enforcement
Redefine Web reserves the right to investigate suspected violations of this policy and to suspend or terminate service, with or without prior notice, at our discretion. Timelines for warning versus immediate suspension depend on the nature of the violation and on the service tier. Managed services (where Redefine Web operates the site) may receive advance notice and time to remediate. Unmanaged services and clear abuse cases (phishing, DDoS, illegal content) may be suspended immediately. Clients remain responsible for all fees incurred up to the point of termination.
Governing law and updates
This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to conflicts-of-law rules. Redefine Web may update this policy from time to time. Updates take effect 5 days after being posted on this page. Continued use of the service after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
